Your power, for when you need it.

We make adding battery storage to your home simple and stress-free. From choosing the right battery to installation and setup, our team handles every step of the process. Store energy for when the sun goes down, reduce your reliance on the utility, and keep your home powered when the grid goes out.

We’ll design a battery system around your energy usage and backup needs, whether you want to keep the essentials running or provide backup power for your entire home.

How does it work?

With home solar, the solar you produce will first power your home. This means during daylight hours, your lights, appliances, and TV will be powered directly by the sun! When you produce more power than you need, you will either store that excess power in a battery or export it to the grid.

If you store your excess power in a battery, you can draw energy from your battery when the sun is down or at times of day where you’re not producing as much solar energy as your home is using. Whenever your battery is full, the additional solar energy you produce will just export to the utility grid. When you export power to the grid, your utility company will credit you for the power you put back onto the grid.

Do I need a battery?

This is one of the most common questions we receive, and the answer depends on your utility company and your overall goals for the project.

For homeowners focused on maximum savings, the decision to add a battery will depend on your specific utility’s solar policy. If you have time-of-use or net-billing, a battery may be a financial win for your project.

Time of use: a rate structure that charges higher prices during peak hours when electricity is more in demand

Net billing: a rate structure where the utility pays you less than the wholesale rate for the excess solar energy you put onto the grid.

However, if you have net metering, whether you store your excess power in a battery or export to the grid, you’re getting the same 1:1 rate. In this case, a battery will not save you any additional money on your utility bill. If your primary goal is to have power during an outage, then a battery is likely a good fit for you regardless of your utility rate structure.

Net metering: a rate structure where the utility pays you dollar-for-dollar for the excess solar energy you put back onto the grid.

Plug and play with your existing system.

We design our solar systems to be modular, allowing you to easily add on battery storage after installation. Reducing your need for electricity from the grid, adding batteries will make you truly energy independent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get clear answers to common questions about battery storage.

A home battery stores electricity for later use. When paired with solar, it can store excess energy your panels produce during the day so you can use it at night or during an outage.

Yes. A properly designed battery system can automatically provide backup power when the grid goes down, keeping essential appliances—or even your entire home—running.

It depends on your battery capacity and how much electricity you use. Reducing unnecessary energy use during an outage can help your stored power last longer.

In many cases, yes. Battery storage can often be added to an existing solar system, though compatibility will depend on your current equipment and system design.

No. A home battery can be installed without solar and charged from the grid. Pairing it with solar, however, allows you to recharge it using the energy your panels produce.

Depending on the size of your system, a battery can power essentials like lights, refrigerators, outlets and internet—or be designed to provide backup power for your entire home.

Most home batteries are designed to provide years of daily use. Lifespan varies by manufacturer, battery chemistry, usage and warranty.

It depends on your electricity usage and what you want to keep powered. We’ll help size your battery system around your home, energy needs and backup goals.
